I have this sketchbook of 90 lb watercolor paper so I figured why not give water colors a whirl. My plan was to "pull a Monet" and experiment with the same subject from different perspectives. It turns out this plan is a lot more work than I anticipated. So far, I've turned out one painting. I am kind of pleased with it. 'Cause I love butterflies.
There are classes on painting with watercolors, societies for people who paint with watercolors and art shows for people who like to stare into watercolors. Me, not so much. I just wanted to dabble. Some feel that watercolors are a difficult medium with which to work. I think the key will be not so much learning about what to do with watercolors but rather how to let them do it. They can be so much fun and create amazing results on their own with little technique. However, one poorly chosen move can be disastrous. Here is the first page out of my sketchbook. Maybe after some more trial and errors, I'll use my fancy 300 lb paper.
