I have discovered the draw of plein air painting during my mid day break. I have really only done it several times so far but I am finding ways to weave it into my schedule. I go early before it gets too hot or with too many people. I surreptitiously set up a small clipboard, tiny palette, and a few colors that I position precariously in my lap. Yeah, wearing white pants or a white skirt is not the day to do this.
There is a comfortable wooden bench under a lovely shade tree in the garden of a nearby museum. I have claimed this specific spot as mine. It is surprisingly cool, especially when a warm summer breeze blows. It is so incredibly relaxing and calming and I think that I am now addicted. Must be those endorphines again.
I usually start to paint the flowers that are in front of me but then my own imaginary flower garden flashes in my mind. I never know what "I will end up with". Good thing I enjoy surprises. Here are few of the results.
