Strolling Through the Gardens with the Masters

The story of Creation was set in a garden and so I was not surprised that I stumbled on a book entitled the The History of Gardens in Painting. Maybe not a book genre in which everyone would be interested but I became quickly enthralled. I recognized a lot of the famous masterpieces and learned some interesting things as well. Of course, I have to share a few of them here with you.

Edvard Munch, whose well known work is The Scream, painted a lovely work, Appletree in the Garden. Who knew?

Surprisingly, I could not discern any of the distinctive van Gogh style or colors in a very early 1884 work of his called Parish Garden.

I rediscovered Pissaro’s Impressionism and wondered how I had ever forgotten. I found another new favorite artist and would encourage you to explore the works of Emile Nolde. He was also inspired by van Gogh’s effusive color.

I am momentarily back into hand painting cards and the pic is a close up of one part of them. Have plans to paint another tote bag but this time it is a designer purse and so I am really nervous.

Live simply.
Love generously.
Care deeply.
Speak Kindly.

Over time I've learned not to fight a lot of things, including what my art looks like. Today, it comes from my soul and I allow it only to be source of joy. It has become one of my essential ingredients for happiness.

While my paintings are escapism, the real world reminds me daily of the work we have yet to do and the purpose that we serve. “To whom much is given, much is expected.” - Luke 12: 48

"Had lots of fun being a quirky artiste for a day! There was a cool band that played some great classic rock tunes. The temperature was well into the nineties. I loved basking in the sunshine. If you enjoy talking about art, this is a really easy way of meeting interesting people."
