Dancing Your Dream

I have been drawn (yep, the pun is intended) to Monet's use of cool, calming colors and his fascination with the impact of lighting on them. Yet, van Gogh's kinetic and frenzied energy has always made me feel like a kindred spirit to him. Seurat's style of pointalism is interesting to study and Talousse Lautrec is fun. Actually, I just like saying his name! This is all my way of segueing to commenting on Degas' use of more somber colors but also to my love of his subjects. The ballerina. He brings their stage to life. You can really hear the dancers' chattering (head up, shoulders back, ribcage lifted, tummy tucked, hips under and float) and feel the tempo of the piano music as they adjust a slipper or limber up at the barre. So, while my dancing days are hopefully not totally over, this drawing is my vicarious experience of "Dancing Your Dream". It's not great but it definitely takes me there.

Over time I've learned not to fight a lot of things, including what my art looks like. Today, it comes from my soul and I allow it only to be source of joy. It has become one of my essential ingredients for happiness.

While my paintings are escapism, the real world reminds me daily of the work we have yet to do and the purpose that we serve. “To whom much is given, much is expected.” - Luke 12: 48

"Had lots of fun being a quirky artiste for a day! There was a cool band that played some great classic rock tunes. The temperature was well into the nineties. I loved basking in the sunshine. If you enjoy talking about art, this is a really easy way of meeting interesting people."
