Gallery Crawls

I used to go to art galleries to view and appreciate the works of others. Unfortunately, I would often crawl away despondent because I could never be that good of an artist. Pretty sure that was not the way a crawl was supposed to work.

Surprisingly, I have discovered in my ripe old age, that there are some positive things that occur with maturity. Call it acceptance or resignation but now when I visit a gallery, I am enveloped by an odd sense of anonymous comaraderie. Artists can be consumed by their pursuits and it's comforting to know that there are many others "out there" attempting to realize their dreams. Just as there are never two snowflakes alike, there are never two artists alike, never two pieces of art alike.... Well, you get the idea. We should each celebrate and revel in our uniqueness.

Take the time to discover, develop and share your gifts rather than to ruminate on what you are not. If you are an artist at heart, there are no failures.

My good friend the Rock-n-Blog Frog takes a moment from his bug snatching hectic day to enjoy the Garden Art. He's relaxing in the pachysandra.

Over time I've learned not to fight a lot of things, including what my art looks like. Today, it comes from my soul and I allow it only to be source of joy. It has become one of my essential ingredients for happiness.

" The 3 essential elements of happiness are something to do, something to love, and something to hope for."

While my paintings are escapism, the real world reminds me daily of the work we have yet to do and the purpose that we serve. “To whom much is given, much is expected.” - Luke 12: 48

"Had lots of fun being a quirky artiste for a day! There was a cool band that played some great classic rock tunes. The temperature was well into the nineties. I loved basking in the sunshine. If you enjoy talking about art, this is a really easy way of meeting interesting people."
